Andrew "Andy" Finley was a housemate on the first season of Big Brother. He entered the House on Day 1. Keeping a low profile in the first few weeks, he positioned himself in the center of two major alliances in the first half of the game. He began being used as a pawn for a period of time, forcing him to form the Fantastic Four alliance to keep himself in the game. He won crucial competitions towards the end of the game, but ultimately came in third place when he was evicted on the show's finale. He is often praised for his strategic gameplay, and ability to avoid gaining a target on himself. Due to his popularity with fans, he was given the role as a host on the show's The Big Brother Mash-Up spin-off series. He has continued to host the show for all subsequent seasons.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Andrew "Andy" Finley was born and raised in Michigan. The youngest of five children, he developed a thick skin at a young age due to the constant teasing from his siblings. Due to his upbringing, he is fond of playing pranks and jokes on people in his life. When he applied for the show, Andy was a marketing student in Michigan. He applied for the series along with all of his siblings; he was the only one to make it to the semi-finals. Andy hoped that his fun-loving nature and pranks would make the housemates like him enough to keep him around until the end, viewing as a friend rather than a foe. He described his high school football career as his biggest accomplishment, and being stuck with boring people as his biggest fear. He hoped to use the prize money, should he win, to party and buy a house for after he graduates.

Andy entered the House on Day 1. He kept a low profile in the first few weeks, though had a working friendship with several of the men in the House. He had a romantic relationship with Cameron, though it ended just before her eviction. In the second week, the House began to divide between the Tres Hermanos alliance and the others. Andy and Kat made a pact to remain in the middle, and he continued to run information back and forth between the two sides of the House. Towards the middle half of the game, Andy was nominated for eviction for the first time. This resulted in him officially siding with Annalise and Stallone, though the latter was evicted soon after. He formed the Fantastic Four alliance with Annalise, Tia, and Tommie. The alliance initially formed as an attempt to keep Stallone in the game, though continued to work together after his eviction to target Leslie and her allies. Annalise came into power, and succeeded in getting Leslie on the block. The alliance went on to evict her, giving the group their first victory together in the game.

Annalise was evicted in a double eviction that same night, fracturing the Fantastic Four alliance. Now in the final five, Andy found himself stuck in the middle of two pairs in the game. Tommie won Head of Household and nominated Mitchell and Shavan for eviction, keeping her closest ally Tia safe. Coming up with a plan to keep the couples at odds, Andy made a deal with the men to use the Power of Veto should he win it and flip the vote to evict Tia. Andy went on to win the "Morph-o-Matic" competition that week, his first competition win of the season. He kept true to his word, removing Shavan from the block and forcing Tia to be nominated in his place. He and Shavan then voted to evict Tia from the House. He went on to win the following "True or False" Head of Household competition, ensuring him a spot in the show's finale. Though he hoped to evict Tommie that week, she won the final Power of Veto and evicted Mitchell. Now in the final three, he trusted that both Shavan and Tommie would choose to take him to the end, and proceeded to throw the final Head of Household competition. Shavan was the eventual winner, and Andy was blindsided when he was evicted in third place. He voted for Shavan to win, viewing him as the better social gameplayer.

Upon leaving the House, Andy resumed his studies and soon after graduated with his bachelor's degree. He was approached about appearing as a guest on a then-untitled companion talk show for the series, though this soon turned into an offer to host the series. He began hosting from the show's premiere episode, alongside fellow housemate Leslie Sammons. He is the longest running host of the series, having hosted all of the seasons alongside fellow alumni. He continues to be a huge fan of the series, and often participates in live chats and Tweet sessions about the show with fans. He is often regarded as the first to play a true floater game, and one of the show's first villains.
