Brad Blankenship
Brad Blankenship was a housemate on the first season of Big Brother. He entered the House on Day 1, and quickly formed the Tres Hermanos alliance with two other men in the game. The alliance seemed to control the first two weeks of the game, though the women became wise to their allegiance and the group became the target of the House. Brad won the second Power of Veto of the season, but was ultimately evicted the following week when he was nominated against Annalise. Since leaving the House, Brad resumed a normal life raising his children and has had little to do with the series.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Brad Blankenship was born and raised in Illinois. The only child of a police officer father and a dispatcher mother, he aspired from a young age to became an officer as well. He got married to his high school sweetheart when he was nineteen, and the couple had their first child ten months later. The couple welcomed a second child eleven months after their first, and a third only nine months after that. He became a police officer, and has been on the force since finishing the academy. He applied for the series after his wife dared him to do so, and believed that he could win the game by taking on a leadership role in the House. In his pre-season interviews, Brad described himself as "humble, honest, and loyal". He was emotional about leaving his family, though hoped that winning the series could change their lives for the better. He described his biggest fear as losing one of his children, and his proudest accomplishment as his family. He hoped to use the prize money to buy a new home and for his children's tuition.
Brad entered the House on Day 1. He quickly formed a bond with Brandon and Stallone, and the trio formed the Tres Hermanos alliance the second day in the House. The group pushed for Bree to be evicted in the first week, and were successful in doing so. Brandon came into power as the second Head of Household of the season, giving the alliance their first week in control. The alliance targeted Tommie for eviction, and used Cameron as a pawn. Brad won the "Cinco de Mayo" Power of Veto competition that week, and chose to leave the nominations intact. Despite feeling confident in their position in the House, Brad and his allies were shocked when Cameron was evicted in a six to four vote that week. The men then learned that several housemates had rallied against them, and the trio became the new targets of the House. When Ozzie came into power, he hoped to remain in the middle of the House and chose to nominate Brad against Annalise, one member of each side. Ozzie won the Power of Veto that week as well, and left nominations intact. Brad and his allies campaigned to gain the votes, but found that they had no true allies in the House. He was ultimately evicted from the House on Day 23, coming in twelfth place.
Upon leaving the House, Brad returned home to his family and lived a fairly normal life. He received criticism from the viewers while in the House due to perceived racist and sexist comments, prompting him to distance himself from the series. He has not appeared on the show since the season one finale, where he was contracted to appear. Soon after the show, Brad and his wife announced that she was pregnant with the couple's fourth child. His former allies Brandon and Stallone were present at the baby shower, and have continued to be friends since their time on the show together.
