Shavan Brooks was a housemate on the first season of Big Brother. Shavan entered the House on Day 1. He joined the Bomb Squad alliance in the first week, and the group worked together in the first half of the game to take out larger threats in the game. In the latter weeks, Shavan began to be nominated as a pawn on several occasions. He won the sixth Head of Household competition, and succeeded in evicting Ozzie from the House. His closest ally in the game was Mitchell, and the pair remained a lowkey but strong couple throughout the weeks. Mitchell was evicted in the final four. Shavan became the final Head of Household of the season, and chose to take Tommie to the end. He was crowned the winner of the series in a four to three vote, being commended for his strategic and social game.

Biography[edit | edit source]

Shavan Brooks was born and raised in Ohio. Seen as a bright kid, he excelled throughout high school. He was valedictorian of his senior class. Inspired by the teachers that had a positive impact on his life, Shavan decided to become a teacher himself. He took a different approach to teaching, and attempts to make a fun and safe environment for his children. He applied for the series after being pushed to do so by his girlfriend, who believed that he had what it took to win the game. He believed he could be successful due to his job as a teacher, aiding him in getting his point across and bonding with his fellow housemates. He cited teaching for fifty more years as his goal in life. Not making a difference for his students was listed as his biggest fear, and graduating top of his class as his biggest accomplishment.

Shavan entered the House on Day 1. He formed a close friendship with Mitchell and Leslie in the first week, and the trio formed the Bomb Squad alliance. The alliance expanded into the Secret Six in the second week, when the housemates teamed up to target the strong male alliance. The group controlled the next three evictions. When outsider Stallone won the Head of Household competition during the show's first double eviction, Leslie and Shavan were nominated for eviction. Though Leslie was the intended target, Mitchell used the Power of Veto to save her, and Kat was nominated in her place. Shavan survived the eviction vote, with the Secret Six having his back. He became the next Head of Household later that night, his first win of the season. He was the first to turn on the Secret Six, succeeding in backdooring Ozzie from the House that week. With several strong housemates eliminated, the housemates began to turn on Leslie, who they viewed as the leader of the majority.

Leslie became the new Head of Household, thwarting the housemates' plans. Shavan continued to support her, and survived the week unscathed. When the opposing side of the House came into power, Leslie and Mitchell were nominated. When Mitchell won the Power of Veto and removed himself from the block, Shavan was named the replacement nominee. True to their word, the housemates evicted Leslie that week. Shavan was nominated once again the final five, this time against Mitchell. Though the pair felt that their time together was over, Andy approached them with a plan to become the final three together. Andy won that week's Power of Veto and used it on Shavan, forcing Tia to be the replacement nominee; she was subsequently evicted. He was nominated once more in the next week, when he lost his closest ally Mitchell. Now in the final three, he and Tommie made a pact to go to the end together. When Shavan became the final Head of Household, he chose to evict Andy. Shavan went on to win the series in a four to three vote.

Upon leaving the House, he resumed a fairly normal life as a teacher. He and his then-girlfriend went on to get married, and had three children. He has returned to the series for the spin-off series The Big Brother Mash-Up, speaking about the game with other former housemates. He entered the House once again for the show's second season, as part of the "BB Hotel" task. Providing advice to the housemates, he also participated in games with the new group. He entered the House on Day 45, and remained in the House until Day 50.
